AN uncovered manhole in Jalan Cecawi, PSB 6/19A, in Kota Damansara, Petaling Jaya, is a time bomb waiting to go off.
A resident, Ahmad, said he was not sure when the iron grille went missing, but urged the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) to cover the manhole before someone falls in it.
“As far as we know, stray cats have become victims.
“The manhole is deep and we are not risking our limbs to
rescue the poor felines,” he said.
Ahmad said some residents had placed a board warning pedestrians of the manhole, but it was not enough to prevent a tragedy.
“It will cause severe injuries to anyone who walks right into it, or even death,” he said.
An MBPJ spokesman said the council was aware of the situation as it had received complaints about the missing manhole cover.
“We have informed the contractor to replace the cover and thought that the matter was resolved. We will remind the contractor to cover it as soon as possible. In the meantime, residents are advised to be careful on that road.”
