127 bags of blood collected at mall

A TOTAL of 127 bags of blood was collected at the 12th blood donation campaign at the IOI Mall in Kulaijaya on Sunday.

The campaign, organised by the Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS), had initially expected 200 blood donors.
Johor Baru MRCS vice-chairman Lim Min Um said heavy rain on the day of the blood donation drive could be the reason why some regular donors could not make it.
Lim said the Johor Baru MRCS plans to hold 24 more blood donation campaigns this year.
Regarding the organ donation drive launched in 1998 which was also one of Johor Baru MRCS' pet project, Lim said the number of donors stood at 7,771 as of last week.
